About Maui, Hawaii Travel

Maui is the second-largest Hawaiian island and is best known for its picturesque beaches and wealth of opportunities for outdoor adventures. A vacation in Maui will provide you with warm sunshine and plenty of time in the sand and surf. When visiting, be sure to make time for snorkeling, surfing, boating, whale watching, hiking, and an authentic Hawaiian luau.

The island of Maui is made up of different regions, each with its own offerings. Central Maui offers quaint boutiques and unique restaurants. West Maui is best known for the famed Ka’anapali Beach. South Maui features 13 impressive golf courses. Upcountry Maui is made up of beautiful desert landscapes and small farms. And in East Maui, you can take a ride on Hana Highway to see rainforests, waterfalls, and exotic beaches.

HALEAKALA NATIONAL PARK

Located on the slope of the inactive Haleakala Volcano, this is a must-see site on Maui. Take a look into the dormant crater and hike to the summit to take in incredible views of the whole island. It’s also a great spot to take in views of Maui’s vibrant sunrises. Located within the park are the Pools of ‘Oheo,’ which are freshwater pools that are fed by the waterfalls. Visitors are able to swim and snorkel in these crystal waters.

KA’ANAPALI BEACH

Located in the town of Lahaina is Maui’s finest beach. Ka’anapali Beach is three miles long with golden sand and crystal blue waters. Visitors love to sunbathe, surf, snorkel, boat, and swim on Ka’anapali Beach, but they also love to watch the daily cliff-diving ceremony from Black Rock known as Puu Kekaa. Just off the sand of this popular beach, you’ll find great restaurants, shopping, golf courses, and a zipline course.

MAUI OCEAN CENTER

Take a closer look at the Hawaiian fish and corals without a snorkeling mask at the Maui Ocean Center. Guests can see sharks, stingrays, turtles, and plenty of reef fish in the center’s beautiful tanks. There’s also a display that explains the life cycles of the humpback whales that migrate to Hawaii in the winter months. Those looking for a thrill can take a dive in the 750,000-gallon Open Ocean tank to swim among the marine life.
